Know any quilters? If so, ask if they have a rotary cutter, mat and ruler you can use. Buy a new blade for the cutter and give her a second new blade as "rent". Watch the hand holding the ruler, and never put down a rotary cutter with exposed blade… they’re exceedingly sharp and dangerous.

Cut only a single layer of fleece — it tends to scoot and distort when you try to cut a couple of plies.

The whole set up is fairly expensive, which is why I suggest you try to borrow someone else’s,
assuming it’s a one-time project.

Actually, thinking about it, I probably wouldn’t lend you my cutter and mat and rulers… but I would do it for you in trade for a couple of blades and your assistance on the project. It’s just dangerous enough that I’d feel better about doing it for you.

If that’s not possible, use the biggest, sharpest scissors you have to cut fleece. It’s a knit, so it tends to distort unless it’s been stabilized with paper.

Another possibility, though I haven’t tried them, are the Black and Decker electric scissors. I hear they work well on fleece, but I stick to my trusty old Kai 12" shears for most things.
